The original Rangitane guestbook was set up in 2002 as part of a web site showing the results of early research into the sinking of RMS Rangitane. Unfortunately, the original guestbook was hosted by a company that no longer operates.

The precis of the book states that the Rangitane was attacked by two raiders. My aunt's version is that there were three - "Black Panther (the largest), "Manyo Maru" and "Tokyo Maru"
    Her name was Mary Dunsmuir.
She and nurse Child assisted the German doctor to operate on injured people aboard the "Tokyo Maru".
Her story (unpublished) was written down by Andre Villiers on 27th August 1941 on board the "Sarpedon" en route to UK and is still in my possession.
She died on 8th December 1996 aged 95.

Hello, My Dad is Thomas Alva Hooper, Fleet Air Arm. He was in a cabin with his friends Max Burns and Jack Dark who were on the Orion and spent the remainder of the war in a German prison camp. It has
taken many years to get his memories of the event.

Hi, I am the Grandson of Joseph Claridge who was a steward on board the ship. Unfortunately he died when I was very young. I only know the story from my Father, Paul. He also knows very little as my
Grandfather rarely spoke about the incident. I would love to find out a bit more about what happened and what my Grandad went through. It would be great for me to tell my dad all about it over a pint
    while I am on leave.

Hi, My father was a Steward aboud the Rangitane when she was sunk. He was one of the crew left on Emirau Island. He is listed in the passenger list, however the details are wrong. It should read
McMurray J./ Assistant Steward from Rock Ferry. Just thought I would set the record straight. Cheers
